I met Elvis when I was 6: my dad had stopped to get gas at the store across the street(angled south of Graceland). My dad had gone inside to pay and Elvis comes by on his 3 wheeler. I yelled "Hi Elvis!!" and he heard me. So he turns around and rolls up next to the window of the car and starts talking to me(I was bright blonde and sky blued eyed at that age). He told me he had a girl about my age and I told him he and I had the same birthday day. When he heard that he told me he had something he wanted to give me and said "Have your dad wait here, I have to go get it, I'll be right back." He left and I watched him go through the gates of Graceland. As he did my dad came out and got in the car. I said, "Dad, wait!" he' said "why?" So I told him Elvis said he was going to give me something and went to his house to get it and he'd be right back..." He said, "Oh sure." started the car and left. The reason he had not seen Elvis was because the store window was full of placards and advertisements. I pouted for years over that. lol

I enjoyed this video on First Edition Books. I am wondering about a First Edition Book I have that says First U.S. Edition 2023- it is a Heather Morris book called Sisters under the Rising sun. How do I tell about this type of book. I am so unknowledgable about this subject.

For those musty books, I put them in a plastic shoe bin w/a small bowl of baking soda. Put the lid on and leave it for a while. I think I left the last one a few months. Got rid of a lot of the musty smell. : )

I agree with you about the location of Graceland. The other anomaly is how the outside looks like a Georgian mansion and the inside is totally and completely not matching the period reflected on the outside. Totally worth the visit.

Ive never heard of an omnichord. Since you didn't explain it, i googled it. I don't thknk I've ever seen one but will certainly keep my eyes open. ... thanks for explaining what the - numbers mean on bats. And the golf info is helpful (I'm clueless). I could use a thirough explanation of golf clubs but can check online

With those Winnie the Pooh books you could put it in a container with baking powder or soda for a couple of weeks. Should get rid of the smell. I had a pair those stick-on sandals we call them thongs here. Back in the 80s. Cheers Graham

I work at a goodwill in indiana and its the same here. The thing that really gets me is thousands of dollars in real jewelry come in every week to my store and i figure its the same at other stores... they are not reporting just how filthy rich theyre getting off all these free items as they whine about inflation. I make sure to tell every customer i can to go to volunteers of america instead lmao

I have found even first edition BOOK CLUB EDITION books can bring good money. I've sold a first edition bookclub Dune for almost $200. There are "gutter codes" on these books that will tell you whether it is first BCE or not. I used to avoid all book club books, not anymore. I've bought a single book to fill out a series a couple times, as a complete series can bring double a nearly complete set. The nice things I like about books is they can be bought cheap (usually $1 or less), they are super easy to ship. The problem depending where you live you can't store in basements or garages. They also tend to be slow sellers. But turning $1 into $20, or $50 or more is pretty sweet. I don't get the margin on any other item. And you have to have them organized, so when you sell a book you can find it. I use a simple letter code, each shelf in my library is labeled shelf A, shelf B and so on. And then I put that in my listing. Sold a book set today, paid 60 cents (10 cents each), sold for $30. Took 2 weeks to sell.

April sucks here too. February is my worst month, even though there are less days in it. And my utility bill in February is always horrendous, $743 this past February. So grateful the cold weather months are over even though I can't deal with the sweltering Alabama heat either. My body can't regulate temperatures and the doctor has no answer to it. Last time I mentioned it, he said, "I am not comfortable giving you hormones," and I said, "Well, I'm not comfortable pouring sweat until my clothes are sopping wet and sweat is pouring out of my head!" But what can ya do? But it does end eventually. February AND April are gone and things should get better. I had a car repair bill and a veterinarian bill, a doctor's bill and meds for ME and there are so many things that need repairing around here, from plumbing to roofing to just everything. And I have sold ONE book this month so far. ONE. But I know how to fix it. I need to list like a fiend. I love going out booksourcing. I love, love, love that. But I hate taking pics and listing. But it has to be done. And quickly. But I did get the car fixed and the dog well. I thought he was going to die on me, but he did not, so I'm not complaining about anything! My dog is my bestie. <3 Hope we all have a great and profitable summer! 3:16 I used to use a walking cane before I had both my knees replaced and I would've easily paid $50 for that walking cane. It is superbly cool. Make sure you replace the rubber tips if they aren't good...they're less than $5 usually. And be sure to list how long it is and if it is really sturdy. I had one that wasn't sturdy, but it was pretty, but in putting my weight on it, it broke one day and I hit the concrete. Ouch. Then I was on the ground without a cane to help me get back to my car. So sturdiness is important. And length is important for those of us who are very tall and others who are very short. My 37" one is my favorite. I'm 5'9" and was, at one point, 6' tall. I had a car repair bill this past week and it was $169. And I had difficulty paying THAT! Had to borrow the money from a friend. Being disabled and alone....I can't even afford food lately. I had 17 surgeries on my stomach in the past 4 years. And all I've been able to eat is chocolate Boost. But it's better now and I went to the grocery store and omg! Groceries have gone up so much since my stomach closed up. I'd had gastric bypass surgery and the scar tissue rubbed together and closed the opening up to my stomach to where if I took a tiny sip of water, it came right back up because there was nowhere for it to go. So they had to do multiple surgeries to open up my stomach little by little and in that 4 years, groceries have gone up horrifically. Mayonnaise used to be $1.99. Now it's $8! And pimientos used to be $1 a jar and now they're $3. I love pimiento cheese and make it homemade. I was just astonished at the prices. And I came across a utility bill from 4 years ago and I was losing my mind about that $325 bill and recently I had a utility bill for $743! And it's just me and I live in one room and $743! Also besides the car repair bill, I had to take my dog to the vet and I had a doctor's appt. myself. Being disabled, I used to get $288 a month in food stamps, but the powers that be gave me a $48 raise on my Social Security, so, as a result, they cancelled my food stamps and raised my medical insurance. You just can't win. And my Ebay sales have just stopped lately. I love the Romaine calm! :)

The coolant system in my car has a sensor buried in the engine, too. It will cost $1500.00 to repair. Back in 2022 I sold a First Edition from 1916 called “The Watchman and other Poems” by Lucy Maud Montgomery, a beloved Canadian novelist from Prince Edward Island. I didn’t know she did poetry. I saved all the selling pics. Sold on eBay for $4138.00 it was in great shape.

I live in Seminole County Florida near Orlando and there are no smog inspections here. I understand if you sell your home in California and move out of state California will charge exit taxes.

Florida does not require smog tests. But do not bring your car here or it costs tons to register it. Trade it off when you get here or buy another car with Florida title .do not bring out of state car here and attempt to register it.

First editions can be very tricky. I have a first edition of the Gregory Rabassa translation of One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez....but it's not a first issue because it doesn't have an exclamation mark after the first paragraph on the dust jacket! That little punctuation mark turns a $75 book into a $400 book.
